Large data reporting platforms are among the hardest things in an enterprise estate to change. They accumulate a decade of loading and reporting dependencies, a business reads their output every morning, and almost nobody has a complete picture of what depends on what.

This is where I’m collecting what I’ve learned about them.

The scope here is deliberately wider than the one guide currently in it. Design and architecture — how you’d build one of these platforms rather than move it — is the obvious next topic, and some of the migration material already leans on positions I haven’t written up properly yet. I’d rather add that when I have something worth saying than sketch an outline now and leave it empty.

These are my own views, written from years of building and moving large Oracle data platforms. They are not Oracle’s official guidance and this is not Oracle documentation. Volatile product claims are quarantined in Product facts that will date.
