Source-to-target inventory
Field definitions for the workload and object-group inventory.
Keep this at workload or object-group level. Link detailed object inventories where the method requires them.
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Source object or workload group | A stable business and technical grouping for planning and cutover |
| Consumer group and owner | Who breaks if this does not work, and who accepts it |
| Approximate volume and growth | Inputs to capacity, throughput and sequencing |
| Evidence of use | Query and report telemetry supporting migrate-or-retire |
| Dependencies | ETL, BI, semantic, security and downstream relationships |
| Disposition | Migrate, rebuild, retain outside the database, archive or retire |
| Transformation need | None, compatible remediation, substantial remodelling, data-quality correction |
| Proposed method | Rebuild, TTS, logical, extract–land–load, or a combination |
| Validation owner | The person accountable for acceptance evidence |
| Cutover grouping | Release sequence and source-change boundary |
Revisit the method when a disposition or dependency changes. Moving a table to Object Storage changes who accesses it and who owns its lifecycle, and may change the method that moves it.
