Designing the Stack
A series on where authority belongs when AI can reason across systems but cannot be trusted to decide their state.
AI changes the pressure on an architecture, but not the need for one. The useful question is not where to put a model. It is where a system decides what may happen, and how every caller—human or machine—encounters that decision.
Designing the Stack follows that question from application contracts through capability APIs, delegated authority, audit and event propagation to the practical work of replacing CRUD-shaped interfaces with governed actions. ROAD is the worked example, not the argument: the principles apply wherever a probabilistic consumer meets a deterministic system of record.
